    The Crimson & Gold Collective is a group that provides resources, guidance, and support to student-athletes seeking to monetize their personal brand and image while complying with NCAA rules and regulations.

  • Why should athletes be paid?

    In contrast to the multi-million dollar deals you may have heard of in the news, the Crimson & Gold Collective is not in the business of making student-athletes rich. Payments are intended to help student-athletes balance their academic and athletic responsibilities and to offer a campus experience commensurate with other students at the University of Denver.

  • What types of services will student-athletes perform in exchange for compensation?

    Activities include working for local non-profits, running basketball camps, and other community-building efforts right here in Denver. We also offer the opportunity to promote your business. Potential services include product promotions, event attendance, social media posts, ambassadorships, and more.

  • Doesn't NIL ruin the spirit of college athletics?

    We understand the frustration with the NIL landscape, but it’s clear that these new rules are here to stay. Under this reality, the Crimson & Gold Collective offers fans and alumni of University of Denver athletics an avenue to level the playing field and make a difference in the lives of our athletes.

  • How can I donate to an NIL Collective?

    Donations help support our efforts to provide resources and support to student-athletes and can be made HERE.

  • What percentage of my donation goes to student-athletes?

    100%. Overhead costs are kept as low as possible and are subsidized by individual donations earmarked for those expenses.

  • How can companies or brands partner with an NIL Collective?

    Companies or brands can partner with the Crimson & Gold Collective by emailing info@denvernil.com.

  • Can student-athletes still receive scholarships if they earn money through NIL opportunities?

    Yes, student-athletes can still receive scholarships if they earn money through NIL opportunities, as long as they comply with NCAA rules and regulations.

  • What tasks do student-athletes complete in exchange for NIL compensation?

    Student-athletes may only be compensated for activities of value. These activities can include ambassadorship, sports camps, clinics, autograph signings, merchandise sales, event attendance, product licensing, social media posts, and other similar endeavors.

  • Is it legal for student-athletes to monetize their personal brand and image?

    Yes, as of July 1, 2021, it is legal for student-athletes to monetize their personal brand and image under NCAA rules and regulations, as long as they comply with the guidelines and restrictions.

  • Are my donations tax deductable?

    At this time donations to the Crimson & Gold Collective are not tax deductable.

  • Are you cutting into donations to the University of Denver or the Pioneer Athletic Fund?

    We are diligent in reminding donors that NIL funding should be in addition to donations to the University of Denver and the Pioneer Athletic Fund. We work closely with the university to ensure we are adding value to our athletic programs, and not diminishing university resources.

  • Is the Crimson & Gold Collective affiliated with the University of Denver?

    Following NCAA rules and regulations, the collective remains an independent third party that collaborates with DU student-athletes but is not affiliated with the university.

  • Which sports does the collective support?
